⛳ A Golf-Course Lifestyle That Starts in Your Driveway

Wake up to sweeping fairway views in this single-story Silver Lakes home positioned directly on the golf course near the 9th tee box. A private cart path connects the driveway to the course’s regular cart path, allowing you to head from home directly to the tee.

Why This Golf Course Home Stands Out
  • Private golf-cart path from the driveway connecting directly to the community cart path at the 9th tee box
  • Prime position beside the tee box rather than farther down the fairway near the typical landing area
  • Single-story floor plan with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and approximately 1,594 square feet
  • Vaulted, beamed living-room ceiling adding warmth, character, and an open feeling
  • Classic red brick fireplace anchoring the spacious living area
  • White kitchen cabinetry, Corian countertops, and stone-tile backsplash
  • Light-filled dining area with walls of windows overlooking the golf course
  • Primary suite with dual closets and private access to a secluded patio
  • Covered rear patio and mature landscaping creating an inviting setting for relaxing or outdoor dining
  • Attached two-car garage, central air conditioning, and forced-air heating

The open floor plan is centered around a classic red brick fireplace, while the vaulted, beamed ceiling adds character and visual interest to the living room. Large windows bring in natural light and keep the golf course scenery visible from the main living spaces.

The kitchen features white cabinetry, Corian countertops, and a stone-tile backsplash, opening naturally to a bright dining area surrounded by windows. It is an inviting layout for everyday meals, entertaining, or simply enjoying the view.

The primary suite includes dual closets and private access to a secluded patio. Outside, the covered rear patio is framed by mature landscaping and looks directly across the green fairway—an ideal setting for morning coffee, outdoor dining, or relaxing at the end of the day.

What truly separates this property is the private cart path beginning at the driveway and connecting to the community path beside the 9th tee. Instead of loading up or driving through the neighborhood to reach the course, you can take your cart directly from home.

Silver Lakes residents also enjoy access to a clubhouse, swimming pool, spa, tennis courts, fitness center, community lakes, and the golf course—all within a community conveniently located near Highway 18 with access toward Victorville and Apple Valley.

The Lifestyle in One Sentence

Enjoy fairway views from your covered patio, then drive your golf cart from your own driveway directly to the 9th tee box.

Golf-Course Location Note: The home’s location beside the tee box may reduce exposure to errant golf balls compared with properties positioned farther down the fairway. No golf-course property can be represented as completely free from golf-ball exposure.

HOA Note: Silver Lakes amenities, rules, fees, availability, operating schedules, golf privileges, lake access, and usage requirements are subject to the association’s current policies and should be independently verified.

A Family-Owned Barstow Stop Worth Pulling Off Main Street For

This week's local business spotlight goes to Lola's Kitchen, a longtime Barstow favorite serving Mexican food with a family story and a cooking style rooted in Mexico City.

Barstow gets plenty of travelers passing through on I-15 and I-40, but Lola's is the kind of place that reminds you there is a real local community beyond the freeway exits. The restaurant has been operated by the same family for decades and has built a strong following among both residents and people who make a point of stopping when they are in town.

Why We're Spotlighting Them
  • Longtime family ownership and a genuine connection to the Barstow community
  • Mexico City-style cooking that gives the menu its own identity
  • Breakfast, lunch, and dinner options for locals and road-trippers alike
  • Strong customer loyalty built over years of serving the High Desert
  • A classic local-business feel that is easy to miss if you never venture beyond the freeway chains

One of the things that makes Lola's especially fun to feature is the contrast between its location and its following. Barstow is one of Southern California's best-known travel crossroads, yet some of the most memorable meals are found at independent places that have been feeding the local community long before a visitor ever discovers them.

Lola's menu covers the familiar comfort-food territory people want from a neighborhood Mexican restaurant, while its Mexico City-style roots help give it a personality of its own. Whether you live in Barstow or are simply passing through, it is a good reminder to skip the predictable chain once in a while and see where the locals eat.

Next time you're in Barstow, give Lola's Kitchen a try and support one of the independent family businesses that gives the community its character.

Business information is provided for community awareness and may change without notice. Please contact Lola's Kitchen directly or check its current social listings for hours, menu items, pricing, and availability before visiting.

🏗️ Commercial Property of the Week
Bear Valley Road Commercial Infill Lot — C-2 Zoning in Hesperia
✅ C-2 General Commercial 📍 Bear Valley Road Frontage 🚗 Approx. 55,000 ADT 🏢 Retail / Restaurant / Auto / Services
0 Bear Valley Road, Hesperia CA 92345 — C-2 commercial infill land parcel on Bear Valley Road
Offered At
$350,000
Lot Size
Approx. 0.699 Acres
Property Profile
C-2 Commercial • Infill Lot • MLS #CV26124179
🎯 THIS WEEK'S OPERATOR PLAY
Bear Valley Road keeps proving itself as one of the busiest commercial corridors in the Victor Valley — this is a rare shot at a level, ready-to-build C-2 lot on that same stretch, surrounded by retailers that already pull daily traffic.

📍 0 Bear Valley Road, Hesperia, CA 92345

Still available and still turning heads: this C-2 General Commercial infill parcel on Bear Valley Road sits on one of the High Desert's busiest retail and service corridors. The lot runs approximately 0.699 acres inside the City of Hesperia, fronting a stretch that sees roughly 55,000 vehicles a day.

💡 Best Fit: Retail / Restaurant / Auto-Related / Service Use

C-2 zoning keeps the door open for a wide range of concepts — retail, restaurant, auto-related uses, personal services, and other neighborhood-serving commercial operators, subject to city approval and buyer verification.

  • One of the last Bear Valley Road infill opportunities still on the market in Hesperia.
  • Approx. 0.699-acre level rectangular lot, ready for site planning and development.
  • C-2 General Commercial zoning with possible retail, restaurant, auto-related, and personal service uses.
  • High-traffic corridor exposure with approximately 55,000 average daily vehicles passing the site.
  • Surrounded by proven commercial activity, including Arco, Little Caesars, Food for Less, Metro PCS, and other nearby retailers and services.
  • Less than 2 miles from I-15 and the Mall of Victor Valley, adding regional access and consumer traffic potential.
  • Utilities available in the area. APN: 0414-031-09.

📊 Corridor Note

Bear Valley Road remains one of the most recognizable commercial corridors in the Victor Valley, and level, C-2-zoned infill parcels like this one do not sit on the market long. For operators who need visibility, traffic counts, and nearby daily-needs retail activity, this is worth a serious look now.

Commercial land in established corridors is hard to replace once it is gone. This parcel offers the kind of practical frontage and surrounding business activity that continues to appeal to owner-users, developers, and investors looking for a Hesperia commercial site with strong local exposure.

Buyer to verify all information including lot size, zoning, permitted uses, traffic counts, utilities, access, development requirements, availability of services, property boundaries, environmental conditions, and all property features. 🏛️ Hometown History

Rancho Cucamonga Edition

Historic Chaffey-Garcia House in Etiwanda, Rancho Cucamonga, California
The Chaffey-Garcia House in Etiwanda preserves one of Rancho Cucamonga's most surprising connections to early electricity and telephone history.

The Rancho Cucamonga House Where Southern California Lit Up

Long before Rancho Cucamonga became the city we know today, a house in the old Etiwanda Colony became the setting for technological firsts that sound almost impossible for the 1880s. The Chaffey-Garcia House was built in 1874 and later became home to George Chaffey after George and his brother William acquired land from Portuguese sea captain Joseph Garcia in 1881.

The Chaffey brothers were developing Etiwanda as an irrigated agricultural colony, and George's engineering experiments went well beyond moving water. On November 30, 1882, he used water power from the area's irrigation system to run a small dynamo and illuminate an arc light on the Garcia property. Historical accounts from the City of Rancho Cucamonga identify the site with the first electric light west of the Rocky Mountains and one of Southern California's earliest demonstrations of hydroelectric power.

Electricity was not the only innovation tied to the house. The Chaffey-Garcia property was also associated with California's first long-distance telephone line, linking Etiwanda with communities including San Bernardino, Colton, Riverside, Redlands, and later Ontario. For residents accustomed to instant communication today, it is remarkable to think that a foothill agricultural colony helped demonstrate what connected communities could look like more than 140 years ago.

The house survives today as a living-history museum at 7150 Etiwanda Avenue, preserved by the Etiwanda Historical Society. It stands as a reminder that Rancho Cucamonga's history is not only about vineyards, citrus, and Route 66—it also includes some remarkably early experiments in the technologies that would eventually change everyday life across California.

Quick takeaway: A house built in 1874 in what is now Rancho Cucamonga became the setting for an early hydroelectric light and California's pioneering long-distance telephone system.

Question: Have you ever driven past the Chaffey-Garcia House on Etiwanda Avenue without realizing how much California technology history happened there?
